About Me
My name is Arturo Reyes Cisneros, I grew up in Mexico during the 80s and 90s, a time that instilled in me resilience, creativity, and determination. At 18, I made the leap to Canada to pursue my passion for technology. Canada gave me a new home, a new perspective, and a professional mindset, while my Mexican roots gave me grit and the “never give up” attitude that continues to fuel me today. I see that blend as one of my greatest strengths.
I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering and later a Master’s in Information Systems Security from Concordia University in Montreal. Right after university, I partnered with a peer to build a Point-of-Sale and inventory management platform, which we deployed to several local businesses. At the time, my focus was on writing robust, modern software (I still remember using J2EE design patterns to make it scalable). But as we expanded the platform with new features, I realized how critical security was and how much potential cybersecurity would have in the years to come. That realization changed my path.
I pivoted, earning my first cybersecurity certification (CompTIA Security+, the first of many) and landing a role as a Security Analyst at a major Wall Street firm, where I’ve worked since 2010. My journey there has been filled with milestones that shaped my career and leadership style:
- 2011 – Team Lead: My first leadership role taught me the importance of the human factor. I made a conscious choice to evolve from being 100% technical into a blend of technical and administrative leadership a decision that transformed my career trajectory.
- 2013 – Building a Global SOC: Tasked with creating a Security Operations Center from scratch, I learned the complexities of governance, compliance, vendor management, and building robust processes for incident, change, and problem management. It was also my first experience managing a truly global team, with all the cultural and operational challenges that come with it. Along the way, I deepened my expertise in identity and access management, endpoint security, data protection, and especially network security, which would later become my main domain.
- 2018 – Regional Leadership: Senior management entrusted me with leading all divisional infrastructure security teams across Canada, over 100 professionals. It was my first opportunity to set strategy at a regional level, gain exposure to policy and HR processes, and learn directly from diverse technical experts across many fields.
- 2020–Today – Network Security Leadership: I joined the Network Security department, initially leading the Web Security area. Since 2024, I’ve been driving the global strategy and operations of the entire department while continuing to lead the security infrastructure Canadian division. This role has given me the chance to combine vision, leadership, and technical depth to secure critical infrastructure at scale.
Through these experiences, I’ve developed a clear vision: to become a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), where I can continue building resilient security programs that balance innovation, compliance, and business enablement.
Outside of work, I believe in balance. I’m passionate about cycling, soccer, and playing guitar. I enjoy video games, which challenge my strategic side, and I’ve developed a love for travel and watch collecting, which keep me connected to craftsmanship, culture, and curiosity. I’m also deeply interested in blockchain technologies, particularly cryptocurrencies, and I spend time studying technical analysis, an area I enjoy exploring regularly.
This blog, Sandbox Access, reflects my journey. It’s a space where I share cybersecurity insights, strategies, and industry perspectives, while also exploring the broader passions that shape how I think, lead, and live.

Thanks for joining me on this journey.
Arturo Reyes Cisneros.
